What is Rother Hahn?

Roter Hahn is a brand that provides holiday guests quality-assured farms since 1998. This way, you’ll get a look into the authentic life in the countryside around South Tyrol by staying or eating at a farm with their own produced products as authentic farm handicrafts as well.

There are 5 pillars in Roter Hahn: farm holidays, eating out, quality products, farm handicrafts and cookery school. I got to have a small taste of the holiday, eating out and the quality products and I can say that these were all very good!

In conclusion, Roter Hahn shows you the best of the South Tyrolean farm world!

My time with Roter Hahn

I really love South Tyrol as it’s a region that’s very versatile. This is actually my fourth time visiting and I will definitely come back! But I never stayed at a farm, so this was a first for me. And I can say that I absolutely loved it. The atmosphere was very welcoming and warm, while also having the comfort of having my own apartment and privacy.

I stayed at Haflingerhof, which is only a 15-minute drive away from Bolzano. So, the perfect stay for a week at South Tyrol. Another great bonus of Haflingerhof is that you can take the bus to the farm if you don’t have a car! You’ll also get the Bolzano card, which offers you a personal ticket for amazing activities.

What to except of Roter Hahn?

Rother Hahn is the perfect getaway for your stay in South Tyrol. Haflingerhof was a very equipped apartment, which is a great place to discover the region. The apartment has everything I needed, like my own kitchen, a big bedroom, a living room and a beautiful balcony with an amazing view. Every morning, the owners brought us home made breakfast from their own farm. It was such a big and healthy breakfast that we were full for a long time!

At Haflingerhof, I also got a tour of their farm to learn more about the process of agriculture and their day to day life. Fabian was our host at Haflingerhof and took us along his farm to have a bit more knowledge about what he does on his farm and to learn more about the process. After learning that they make all their products themselves, it lets you appreciate it even more! Tasting their home-made wine was the perfect closure of the farm tour! I couldn’t resist and took some bottles home.

Lastly, we also ate at Planitzer, which is a restaurant participating at Roter Hahn and has no apartments. They offer tasty, home-made juices and their own wine, but also traditional country fare like cheese dumplings, Kaiserschmarn, and many more! The restaurant also offers great views while eating, so it’s definitely a good place to stop around noon!
